MDI Access is a Design Build/General Contracting firm specializing in Data Center and Telecommunications Infrastructures. MDI's home office is located in Chicago although they have done work in approximately 25 states for their nationwide customers.
All of MDI’s business comes from referral and/or repeat business. MDI has never done just one project for a client. In the past five years alone MDI designed built and/or retrofit in excess of 500,000 sq ft of data center space in (20) separate projects located in Boston, Chicago, Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, Miami, New Jersey, Phoenix, Singapore and Canada ranging in size from 2,000 to 60,000 sq ft.
When MDI says they specialize in Data Centers and Telecommunications infrastructures, they mean just that. They do not build roads or hospitals or multitenant properties, or commercial office buildings. MDI has seen the industry evolve from CLEC’s deploying 40 watts/sq ft to today’s extreme high density Data Centers deploying 300+ watts/sq ft.
As power densities increased so did the requirement for efficient methods of rejecting that heat load. MDI models all projects to get just the right combination of power and cooling. As a tribute to their success in this process, MDI was awarded Climacool’s 2008 Green Data Center design of the year for the efficient design. Recently, MidAmerican Energy approved MDI's most recent project as being energy efficient.
