MDI was founded in 1992. MDI has been recognized three times by INC Magazine as one of the fastest growing, privately held firms in the US. MDI specializes in everything related to design/build of telecommunications infrastructures. MDI's home office is located in Alsip, Illinois although they have done work in approximately 25 states for our nationwide customers. MDI recently completed colocation facility buildouts in Singapore and Canada as well.

MDI started in the business shortly after the divestiture of the Bell System building Central Office sites for Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs). At that time, the main driver for site location of facilities was connectivity. Everyone wanted to be in the same buildings in the same "NFL" cities. MDI’s specialization in telecommunications infrastructures led to "roll out" customers as well. MDI would write a spec book and deploy it across several cities for our clients.

MDI's largest project was a five site 200,000 sq ft data center roll out. The entire project exceeded $40,000,000. MDI has design built and/or retrofit in excess of 1,000,000 sq ft of central office and data center space. MDI’s five step process for deployment of new projects remains the same today: DEFINE - DESIGN - MODEL - CONSTRUCT - COMMISSION.
