Robert Heiderscheidt, President and CEO of the MDI Companies
Mr. Heiderscheidt is a 27 year veteran of the electrical industry with a core concentration in telecommunications infrastructures. Mr. Heiderscheidt founded MDI in 1992. Under his guidance, the firm enjoyed steady growth. With the divestiture of the Bell monopolies, exploding internet growth, and MDI’s concentration in telecommunications infrastructure, Mr. Heiderscheidt subsequently founded MDI Access in 2001. MDI Access is a design/build GC firm specializing in switchrooms, colocation facilities, and data centers. In addition to his duties as President & CEO, Mr. Heiderscheidt continues to focus on company expansion and design of the larger data center projects.
Mr. Heiderscheidt is also a co-founder of Access Media 3 ("AM3"), which provides comprehensive digital media and telecommunication solutions - including design, installation, maintenance, and management services - for property managers, condo associations and developers.
Prior to founding MDI, Mr. Heiderscheidt attended St. Mary’s University with a concentration in business administration and computer science. He spent four years in the IBEW Local 134 apprenticeship program – where he graduated top of his class. Mr. Heiderscheidt spent the next four years working for various electrical contractors as foreman, general foreman, superintendent, estimator and project manager.
Mr. Heiderscheidt is an active member in NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association), Alsip Industrial Association, Alsip Chamber of Commerce, BICSI, LEED, and the AWEA (American Wind Energy Association). He has also been involved in The Little Company of Mary Hospital Crystal Heart Ball Foundation.
Christopher Krestel, Chief Business Development Officer
Mr. Krestel is an architect and project manager with over 10 years of professional experience. During his career he has managed multiple simultaneous projects with a wide range of project scope, organizing multi-disciplined teams and served as the main client contact for projects across North America. Mr. Krestel’s passion revolves around using the latest in technology to improve the design process, better our clients understanding of the built environment and improve the bottom line. He was instrumental in introducing Building Information Modeling (BIM) within Cubellis & Loebl Schlossman & Hackl.
Mr. Krestel also embraces the energy efficient designs of MDI and their investment into alternative energy projects.
Mr. Krestel is a licensed architect and interior designer within the State of Illinois, NCARB certified and holds professional membership within the AIA. He is also a member of the Village of Mokena, Site Plan and Architectural Review Committee, donating his time and abilities for the good of the local community.
Mark Untiedt, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Untiedt is a highly qualified construction industry executive and is also a licensed architect with over 18 years of professional experience. During his career, he has executed and managed multiple projects, from large, ground-up mission critical facilities to small office build-outs. Most recently as an independent consultant and as an Associate with Cubellis – Chicago. Mr. Untiedt serviced MDI Access as an Architect and PM on a host of local projects. It did not take long for Mark to realize the quality of work and potential that MDI brought to the table personally and the future of the telecommunication industry. As a LEED certified architect Mark embraces the energy efficient designs of MDI and their investment into alternative energy projects.
Prior to his career as a consultant and Cubellis, Mr. Untiedt was a member of Carlson; a nation-wide Design/Build firm who specialized in 24/7/365 facilities. Carlson was a leader in the tech explosion of the late 90’s and early 2000’s with clients such as Genuity (GTE), MCI Worldcom, Level 3 Communications as well as other mission critical facilities such as FOX Television Network and AskyB.
Raymond Heiderscheidt, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Heiderscheidt is a CPA with 40 plus years of experience responsible for financial operations. In addition to overseeing all internal finances, project budgeting and accounting, Mr. Heiderscheidt is responsible for coordination of all multi-state project tax and compliance issues.
From the development of the information systems to insurance, Mr. Heiderscheidt is involved in all aspects of daily cost control. He maintains a strong balance sheet through the utilization of cash flow management and investment review.
