Data Center Design/Build

When deploying data centers, one size definitely does not fit all. The most important phase of deploying a new data center is to provide a clear definition of the end product. You absolutely need to know how you will use your DC. The definition of the end product will determine both the construction schedule as well as the initial Cap Ex budget and Op Ex budget for years to come. A data center that is over built is a waste of immediate Cap Ex resources, will operate inefficiently, and become a continuing drain on Op Ex resources. A data center that is under built will result in a drain on future Cap Ex which could be deployed elsewhere in your organization. In this phase you will define: use, size, power density, required percentage uptime, redundancy, and budget.
